CLIA Coronavirus Update 3
18 February 2020Tourism Fiji provided another quick update on the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) that continues to impact the global tourism industry.
Our thoughts continue to be with our own team members based in China and with the entire country as it responds to this challenging situation. We’re in daily contact with our trade partners in China and other international markets to understand how each market is responding to the crisis and the impact this is having on travel behaviour.
At present Fiji is one of many destinations that have travel restrictions in place for foreign nationals that have visited mainland China in the last 14 days – for more information on the latest advisories click HERE. There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fiji.
Tourism Fiji is continuously working with the Government, FHTA, SOFTA and industry partners on efforts to mitigate the impact of the outbreak on Fiji’s tourism industry and we are adjusting our marketing activities as required in response to market challenges. We are also working with them to develop relevant communications for our visitors and trade partners to ensure they remain informed with the latest information.
Amongst all the challenges being experienced across our markets there is one thing that is for sure, and that is the world needs a little more happiness now more than ever. This is exactly what our signature marketing campaign, Bulanaires, is all about. I thank those who have nominated a Bulanaire to participate in our campaign to help inspire visitors to come and experience the place where happiness finds you.
The campaign will continue to build momentum throughout the month with activations planned in Fiji and our international markets during March.
