Travelling From Japan to Fiji Is Now Easier

In news welcomed by Tourism Fiji, the Japanese Government has eased COVID-19 border controls further, from 1 March by raising the daily cap on entrants allowed back into Japan.

The Japanese Government announced Fiji is no longer a “designated country” and therefore, travellers from Japan to Fiji will be able to spend their time in Fiji without quarantine measures both after entering Fiji and after returning to Japan if they’ve had a booster vaccine. To re-enter Japan, travellers will require a negative PCR test result conducted in Fiji prior to departure home.

Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill said, “This is an important milestone for tourism in Fiji and a welcome step towards the long-awaited recovery of the Japanese market. With the resumption of Fiji Airways’ direct flights expected in May, Fiji will again be at the doorstep of Japanese travellers perfectly placed to celebrate Golden Week.”

Mr Hill added, “We are proud of the Care Fiji Commitment (CFC), a WHO-approved standard of best-practice health and safety measures for travel in a post-COVID world. All CFC approved businesses have a dedicated Wellness Ambassador who is responsible for rolling out these enhanced health and safety measures across the business and keeping everybody safe, and this has worked well since re-opening to international tourists in December. We have made all possible preparations to ensure that the people of Japan can enjoy a safe and secure trip. We look forward to welcoming you all again.”
