Visitors waiting to experience a jet landing at the seawall were treated to an unexpected bonus on Saturday afternoon as two Air New Zealand jets landed at Rarotonga International Airport within minutes of each other.
The A320 Airbus ZK-DJF was scheduled to leave Auckland at 7.40am, but did not actually depart until 9am. It landed at Rarotonga International at 2.36pm, rather than the scheduled time of 1.30pm. Another Airbus, registered ZK-DJI, landed just a few minutes later at 2.39pm.
Jet landings are considered to be some of the best free entertainment on Rarotonga, attracting ever-increasing numbers of visitors to experience the spectacle of a large and screamingly loud aircraft flying just a short distance overhead.
