Warm Pacific Greetings from the Division of Sustainable Tourism!
We begin the Pacific Sustainable Tourism Newsbeat journey for 2022 by highlighting the journey of Papua New Guinea and the sustainable efforts carried out by the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority.
Learn about the cultural experiences including the local festivals and attractions which have inspired domestic demand; the launching of the Tourism Sector Development Plan 2022 – 2026 as a vehicle for recovery from COVID-19; and the country’s participation at the Dubai World Expo 2020 as part of its efforts in promoting investment opportunities for tourism in PNG.
We also introduce this months’ Sustainable Champion: Kelly Inae – a beekeeper and sustainable entrepreneur in PNG.
Our Partner Spotlight this month is the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and its work on the Glasgow Declaration.
Your Resource of the Month is the Reporting on Sustainable Development Goal Target 14.b and its indicator 14.b.1 – a Guidance for the Pacific Island countries.
Important upcoming webinars and announcements are shared for your information.
