USP Unveils Anniversary Logo

The University of the South Pacific launched a new logo leading up to its 50th-anniversary celebrations next year.
USP Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, Winston Thompson said the logo and theme were reflective of the role played in helping shape the Pacific region over the past 50 years.

“The 50th-anniversary logo entails a sailing canoe element which is amplified from the existing USP logo. The canoe, also known as vaka, drua, kalia or tongiaki in the Pacific, sailing across the ocean and its sea of islands symbolises the strive for education; of the progress of its people through time and space, and the journey of USP as it navigates its way into the future together with its stakeholders,” Mr Thompson said.

Speaking at the USP’s 84th Council meeting in Nadi, Mr Thompson added that the theme for the anniversary was “Celebrating the Pacific, Shaping its Future.”
The new logo and theme will be implemented and used across the University effective from 1 November 2017 to 31 December 2018.  The anniversary website can be accessed at http://50.usp.ac.fj.
