The community roll-out of Samoa’s Covid-19 vaccination drive got underway earlier this week.
Faamatuainu Lenatai Suifua, Samoa Tourism Authority CEO said that ‘the roll-out to the community is a welcome development especially as efforts at the industry-level are well underway to ensure Samoa is in a position to welcome and host visitors when borders eventually re-open’.
According to the Samoa Ministry of Health, 4,991 people had received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine as of Thursday 29th April and as part of efforts to increase accessibility, additional vaccination centres have been added.
Faamatuainu further added that ‘if current trends are anything to go by, vaccination will very likely become a requirement for international travel and as such, we encourage our tourism business operators and the community at large to use the opportunity and support Samoa’s travel-ready preparations’.
And in a strong show of support, the Taumeasina Island Resort posted on social media a video of their team with their vaccination cards to reassure their followers.
