1 August 2017Whale season in American Samoa has begun! Season starts in July and can last as late as December, with September and October being its peak months.
The first whale sighting for 2017 was early last month off the coast of Amanave in the Western District of Tutuila.
These extraordinary mammals migrate north to our warm waters once a year to breed in our protected bays such as Fagatele, Fagasa, Fagalua, and Poloa.
While you’re out enjoying the island, be sure to keep a look out for these seasonal visitors!
If you take pictures or videos of the whales in our waters, be sure to tag us at @americansamoatravel in your social media posts.
