Vanuatu International Arrival Statistics: July 2017

International visitor arrivals by air totalled 12,055 or 52% of all international arrivals to Vanuatu. This is an increase of 11% over the corresponding month in 2016 and 27% over the previous month. The increase was reflected in the number of visitors who arrived for holiday.

Bauerfield Airport Runway Rehabilitation Work Starts With Groundbreaking

The Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, has appealed for no more delays to the work to extend and widen Vanuatu’s main gateway, Bauerfield International Airport, in Port Vila. He called on all government machinery to cooperate and facilitate the quick and smooth progress of the rehabilitation work.

Pacific Week Of Agriculture Set For Grand Opening In Vanuatu

Global agricultural leaders will gather in Vanuatu next week for the inaugural Pacific Week of Agriculture (PWA 2017). Vanuatu is hosting the one-week event from 16 to 20 October in partnership with the Pacific Community (SPC) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The intensive week of meetings will see international and regional participants explore innovations, discuss challenges and look for ways to protect and expand agriculture in the Pacific. With support from the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), over 30 participants from the Caribbean, Africa and other Pacific Island countries are expected to take part in the event.

Tourists should be able to buy and eat from road markets, commonly known as Vt20 Markets, in the future. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Trade, Joe Natuman, made the statement on at the historic occasion of the launching of the Bureau of Standards Office.
